Patents and Utility Models (Domestic and Foreign)
Sanada Patent Firm provides following services to obtain and maintain mainly “patents” among industrial property rights.
Domestic Application Service
Upon requests from our clients, we prepare application documents and go through procedures to file the applications to the Japanese Patent Office. In this service, we conduct hearings with the inventors and sometimes cooperate in cultivating inventions. Such hearings can be held remotely via web meetings.
Domestic Prosecution Service
If a notice of reasons for rejection or a decision of final rejection is issued, we analyze it and propose a way(s) to respond for overcoming the rejection to our clients. Then, in accordance with our clients’ requests and strategies, we prepare a written opinion (along with amendments if necessary) and submit it to the Japanese Patent Office in hopes of obtaining rights.
Domestic Rights Maintenance Service
If a decision of grant or a trial decision of grant is issued, we promptly report it to our clients and further provide services such as paying patent fees and managing pensions for maintaining rights thereafter.
Other than “patents”, Sanada Patent Firm also provides services for obtaining and maintaining “utility models”.
In addition, Sanada Patent Firm (Sanada & Associates) provides following services for obtaining and maintaining patents and utility models in foreign countries.
Foreign Application Service
Using either Paris route, PCT route, or direct route, we entrust local agencies with procedures to file applications to foreign patent offices. So far, in filing foreign applications, we have covered over 36 countries including Japan.
Foreign Prosecution Service
If we receive an Office Action or the like from a local agent, we analyze it and propose a way(s) to respond for overcoming the rejection to our clients. Then, we prepare a response or an instruction (along with amendments if necessary) in line with our clients’ requests and strategies, and submit it to the local patent office via the local agent in hopes of obtaining a grant.
Foreign Rights Maintenance Service
Upon receiving a notice of allowance from a local agent, we promptly report it to our clients and further provide services such as paying patent fees and managing pensions for maintaining rights thereafter.
